Taryn Griffey
Sophomore Taryn Griffey is a four-star guard with explosive leaping ability. Griffey, the daughter of former MLB star Ken Griffey Jr., poured in 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in a 72-50 win over Dr. Krop (FL) to win their State Championship.
2011 State and NHSI Champions, Dr. Phillips completed their 2012 regular season in similar fashion, with a FHSAA 8A State championship. Junior guard Sydnei McCaskill led the team with 17 points to win their second consecutive title. Now they are looking to repeat at the NHSI. Dr. Phillips ended the season as the top ranked Florida team in the FAB 50 Girl’s Basketball Rankings.
